CHILDREN AND THE EUCHARISTThe purpose of this ministry is to delight the Heart of Jesus by gently drawing children to encounter him in the Eucharist. We do this in two ways: Children’s AdorationSaturday at 3:00 p.m. children ages 4 – 14 gather to adore Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament for one hour of directed prayer, song and reflection. This worldwide movement, founded by Fr. Antoine, FJ, was blessed by Pope John Paul II. We can also assist the school and PSR in leading adoration to the religion classes.
Fat TuesdaysDuring the summer months, gather children to weekday Mass once a week followed by donuts, goodies, and play time with friends at the playground.
EXTRAORDINARY MINISTERS OF HOLY COMMUNIONExtraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion will help and assist the priest in the distribution of Holy Communion at Mass. This also includes delivery of communion to the homebound. This “Extraordinary Ministry” requires nomination by the parish priest.
LECTORS/COMMENTATORSLectors/Commentators assist the congregation in participating in the Mass. These individuals need a commitment to continued improvement of speaking skills and must become familiar with the readings for the Mass. Training is available.
MASS/ALTAR SERVERSWeekday Mass Serving is a great opportunity for students in 5th grade and up to give back to their parish community. Weekday Mass serving is scheduled by the school principal, but is open to students who attend public schools as well. Weekday servers should plan to arrive at church by 7:45 AM and Mass is usually over by 8:30 AM. Training is held every May for those students attending St. Peter Catholic School, and additional training is held during the summer for all students. Training can also be scheduled by appointment for those wishing more one-on-one instruction. Being an Altar Server is a great privilege and gives you an up close and personal look at the Mass. You can also sign up for weekday summer Masses. If you would like to be scheduled for weekday Mass serving, or for any questions about serving or training, please contact the coordinator for this ministry.
MUSIC MINISTRIESThe adult choir sings at all 10:00 a.m. Masses during the school year, also on Christmas Eve and during Holy Week. The choir rehearsals are on Wednesday evenings at 7:30 p.m. The guitar Mass is at 5:30 p.m. on the first Saturday of each month.
MASS GREETERSMass Greeters stand at all entrances including the north and south doors and the gathering space of the church and greet all who enter our doors. Their job is to extend hospitality to everyone who attends Mass at St. Peter’s.
