All About School Lunch
School Lunch has never been in the news moreSave
than this year! The Healthy Hunger-Free Kids Act was passed that mandated changes to the food served on school lunch trays - which haven't been changed in 15 years! Our new school lunches feature many of the same items students have enjoyed in previous years, but our lunches will be improved by offering more fruits and vegetables every day, transitioning to entirely whole grain-rich bread and pasta items, and reducing the amounts of saturated fats, trans fats, and sodium in our menu. As your students discuss the new school lunches, take advantage of these teachable moments to discuss healthy and balanced meals with him or her. You can visit www.eatsmartplayhard.org for news stories on schools in Kansas and www.traytalk.org/faqs/for national stories.
